Company

Thunder Airlines was founded in 1994 with one general goal in mind—to serve the Northern Ontario communities—and that is precisely what we do. Our specialized fleet of aircraft and friendly staff can accommodate you in a helpful way, and no matter what you need, we are your northern connection. Employing over 90 staff and operating a fleet of 11 aircraft, our fleet consists of 4 MU-2 aircraft, 4 King air A100's and 1 Cessna Grand Caravan.

Our Head Office/Flight Coordination Centre is located in Thunder Bay and our busiest location is Timmins. We service almost all airports in Ontario and surrounding areas with frequent and reliable flights.

We are one of the largest Medical Transfer contractors for ORNGE (Ontario Ministry of Health) and supply charter air service to many organizations in Ontario. We also now operate scheduled passenger service to the coast of James Bay, from our Timmins base.

Thunder Airlines takes pride in our strong relationships with the people of Northern Ontario, our strong safety record, and the fact that we have been able to grow and serve the unique demands of this industry in a professional, courteous way.

Aircraft

King Air

The Beechcraft King Air 100 is a great all-purpose aircraft with a rich history. It can carry plenty of cargo, comfortably seat 9 passengers in its pressurized cabin, and cruise at 385 km/h.

Thunder Airlines uses the King Air for its daily scheduled flights, charters, and shipping cargo. The King Air truly handles it all.

CaravanThe Cessna Caravan is truly a workhorse that can be relied upon to get the job done. It is specifically designed to fit plenty of cargo of all shapes and sizes and lift it to your destination.

Its large, roomy interior can also accommodate up to 9 passengers. Thunder Airlines uses the Caravan for most of its cargo shipments and specialty charters.

MU-2Powered by two Garrett turboprop engines, the Mitsubishi MU-2 is one fast bird, clocking in with a cruise speed of up to 500 km/h.

Although Thunder Airlines uses the MU-2 mainly for medical patient transfers, it is also used for charters of up to 7 people when time is of the essence.
